This course is available as a VETDSS course, or as an Adult Learner.

Turn for passion for makeup and beauty into a professional skillset!

Gain a deep understanding of skincare, makeup application techniques and retail beauty advice, all while working with premium products from suppliers such as Kryolan and CrownPro. Master false lash application, airbrush techniques and adapting makeup for flawless photographic results and showcase your skills in an end-of-year runway.

Learn how to leverage social media and technology to promote your work safely and effectively, setting you up for a successful career in the beauty industry.

This course is run from our onsite training salon.

By completing this course, you will learn to:
  • Design and apply makeup looks
  • Advise on beauty products and services
  • Communicate and work as part of a salon team
  • Demonstrate retail skin care products
  • Understand the in’s and out’s of conducting salon financial transactions

What you will be provided with on completion:

Learners are assessed via a range of assessment types.

These include: observations, questioning, role play & projects.


SALON KIT
Students will be provided with a Salon Kit as part of this course, which is included in the Materials Fee.
This kit includes tools that students will use throughout their course and will need to have with them for each class.

ADULT LEARNERS

All prospective adult students are subject to a pre-enrolment interview to determine suitability for the course.

 

VETDSS
PRE-TRAINING REVIEW

Suitability for this course is confirmed by the students home school as part of the school‑based VETDSS process. A separate pre‑training interview with Foundation Learning Centre is not required.

Adult Students
Part time, students have up to 12 months to complete this course, 1 day per week.

FOR VETDSS enrolments, please contact your home school.
VETDSS Students
Classes run 1 day per week over the course of 2 academic school years.

Upon completing this course students can move on to further study in areas such as Make Up, Beauty Therapy and Retail.

This general qualification is designed to help you build skills to get you ready to work under supervision in:

  • Cosmetic & Skincare Retailers
  • Hair & Beauty Product Retailers

Get started in the Hair and Beauty industry with FLC!

FLC offers quality education and training to the hairdressing and beauty industry. Our dedicated staff all hold training qualifications from industry leaders along with more than 20 years of experience in the Hairdressing and Beauty Industries and Education and Training Sector.

Our FLC Salons have been developed to provide students with a working salon environment where they can provide clients with salon services and are combined with a classroom space where students undertake their coursework.

All training is Nationally Accredited.

Fees are correct as of March 2025. The delivery mode for all courses at Foundation Learning Centre is via face-to-face and a mix of flexible remote or online learning. Face-to-face is delivered onsite at Foundation Learning Centre campuses. Student tuition and materials fees as published are subject to change given an individuals circumstances at enrolment. To be eligible for a concession amount, a valid concession card must be produced at the time of enrolment. FLC’s online service standards are located on our website.
