ASSESSMENT TYPES
Learners are assessed via a range of assessment types.
These include: observations, questioning, test, report & project.
SALON KIT
Students will be provided with a Salon Kit as part of this course, which is included in the Materials Fee.
This kit includes tools that students will use throughout their course and will need to have with them for each class.
PRE-TRAINING REVIEW
ADULT LEARNERS
All prospective adult students are subject to a pre-enrolment interview to determine suitability for the course and eligibility for a funded place.
IN-SALON APPRENTICESHIPS
Work as an apprentice hairdresser and learn on the job! Our trainer attends your workplace 3 hours per month for face-to-face in-Salon training or choose to learn 1 day per week in our training salons.
WORKPLACE BASED TRAINING
Attend classes 1 day per week at our training salon plus 2 days a week in work placement.
Note – to complete the certificate, students must complete all of the course units.
Shape your career with additional training by studying SHB40216 Certificate IV in Hairdressing.
Students who have undertaken SHB20216 Certificate II in Salon Assistant may be eligible for Credit Transfers as Recognition of Prior Learning.
This comprehensive Certificate III qualification has been developed to provide you with the skills and knowledge you need to work as a Hairdresser. Career opportunities include:
- Work as part of a hairdressing team in a Salon
- Launch your career as a freelance Hairdresser or start your own business
- Work in a Hair & Beauty product retailer

Our FLC Salons have been developed to provide students with a working salon environment where they can provide clients with salon services and are combined with a classroom space where students undertake their coursework.
