English for Me – Level 2
These classes are for people who may have learnt a little bit of English before and want to learn and revise their skills in a supportive, but more structured classroom environment. This course is designed to help people to develop basic study and pre-employment skills while learning English.
Overview
In this class we will help you to work toward learning Level 2 listening, speaking, reading and writing skills, including:
- Discussing, reading and writing about study or work plans at a basic level.
- Having conversations about your suburb.
- Form filling
- Numeracy skills such as reading calendars, timetables and shopping catalogues
- Planning and participating in a class project
- Developing internet and emailing skills.

By completing this course, you will learn to:
- Practice and develop Level 2 English listening, speaking, reading and writing skills
- Gain the confidence and skills to successfully communicate with your peers and beyond
- Build the skills and confidence required to learn English at a higher level as the next step
- Develop an understanding of personal progress
What you will be provided with on completion:
- A Certificate of Participation including a list of skills gained
- The opportunity to meet individually with the educator to discuss progress and set new goals

By the end of the course, students will be able to:
- Introduce themselves in oral and written form at a basic level
- Have a simple conversation based on where they live
- Revise days of the week, months of the year and seasons
- Fill in a simple form
- Read about and discuss a day’s routine
- Read about a work routine including a timetable
- Work as a team to plan, host and evaluate a class event (involves writing invitations)
- Work as a team to plan and create a classroom display based on the class event
- Work as a team to plan and participate in a class excursion to a local destination or a class celebration
- Digital skills including internet and emailing
*Achievement of these outcomes result in a gaining of communication, reading and writing skills at the Australian Core Skills Framework – Level 1

Our Pre-Accredited and Neighbourhood House Programs incur an annual registration fee of $10. All participants must pay this annual, non-refundable registration fee upon enrolment into their first program for the calendar year. This includes hobby programs and social groups. This fee will be charged once per calendar year.
FUNDED FEE ELIGIBILITY
To be eligible for a full funded place in these courses you must be:
- an Australian or New Zealand citizen or
- a holder of an Australian permanent visa or
- an Asylum seeker holding a valid visa that confers eligibility for Skills First training
CONCESSION FEE ELIGIBILITY
To be eligible for a concession fee, a valid concession card showing the name of the person enrolling in the course must be provided at the time of enrolment. FLC may request a copy of the card at the time of enrolment. Concession is applied at the time of enrolment and cannot be applied partway through the course.
