The RISE Program
Specifically developed to support young people ages 13 - 16 who are disengaged from education, this program will work with students to help them develop the skills and knowledge needed to thrive.
Overview
The RISE program is a short term reengagement program that strives to support young people who have disengaged or have low attendance at their mainstream school. The intention of the program is to build student confidence and capacity, with the view to integrate students back into education. By concentrating on the young persons individual goals, wellbeing and social engagement, we aim to help each young person reach their educational goals and celebrate success.
By completing this course, you will learn to:
- Develop the skills needed to thrive in a classroom environment
- Use a range of self-regulation and organisational skills to undertake coursework
What you will be provided with on completion:
- A strong foundation to continue study

The topics that the student’s engage with will be practical and build life skills. As well as a selection from the General Education for Adults packages, this program includes excursions, incursions, guest speakers, building strategies to cope in classroom environments, a focus on health and wellbeing and fun adventure-orientated tasks to build social skills. We aim to have fun and create a relaxed environment.
This program offers students two levels:
Level 1
Students have the opportunity to engage in 22690VIC Certificate I in General Education for Adults.
Level 2
Students have the opportunity to engage in 22691VIC Certificate II in General Education for Adult
RISE Program students remain enrolled at their home school on a Department of Education Regengagement Contract arrangement, and attend The RISE Program 4 days per week.
The Early Intervention & Re-Engagement programs were established to meet the needs of students in the middle years of secondary school who are disengaged, at risk of disengagement or have low attendance rates at their mainstream school.
Encompassing a range of programs that are tailored to support students aged from 13 – 16 years of age, these programs aim to develop the student’s sense of self-worth, social wellbeing, build resilience and encourage engagement in a consistent and nurturing environment.
With a dedicated group of staff, the Early Intervention and Re-Engagement programs work to support students through their middle high school years.

RISE Educators deliver a selection of units from the 22690VIC Certificate I in General Education for Adults package. Units are selected based on those that will most benefit the cohort.

ATTENDANCE
The RISE Program is a 4 day a week program.
CASEY: Onsite classes run on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays from 9.30am – 2.00pm. Wednesdays 9:30 to 12:00pm
PENINSULA: Onsite classes run on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays from 9.30am – 2.00pm. Fridays 9:30 to 12:00pm
This course runs from our CASEY and PENINSULA campuses.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
Enrolments for our RISE programs must be made with the support of your young person’s current school and the Department of Education.
Parents must contact their student’s current school to initiate the possibility of an enrolment in the RISE program as schools must agree to and support the DE Reengagement Contract and placement fee that is applicable for this program. All enrolments MUST go through the students homeschool only.
FLC supports students with a range of pathway options:
LEVEL 1
Upon completion of the program, students are encouraged to reengage back into their homeschool, other education or enrol in Foundation Learning Centre’s ‘Juniper College’ VPC0000001 Victorian Pathways Certificate for a pre-VCE option.
LEVEL 2
Upon completion of the program, the goal is for students to integrate back into their home school. Students who continue to require an alternative learning environment, can enrol in Foundation Learning Centre’s ‘Juniper College’ VCE0000001 VCE Vocational Major for Year 11 and 12 level.
